c 60-70 Golden Plover on the Leas this morning near Marsden Bay.

Iv'e noticed they seem to favour the Leas at this time of year.

Pair of Reed Bunts on the hedgerow.

I got some good news this evening when I went on Cleadon Hills, two dog walkers coming off told me that they had seen the eagle owl in the old man's garden and it let them get within 20m and just sat and watched.

Went to the old man's garden but couldn't find it.

On the way up to the mill there sitting on the gate in the wall approximately 75 m east of the mill was the eagle owl (17.20 hrs). Got within 20m before my dog ran up to it barking and chased it off. Great views in flight and it headed up to the mill and landed on top of it. Fantastic sight!!! It wasn't there on the next lap but made mine and another dog walker's night

Brian

after seeing this bird yesterday i thought it could be a caspian gull. i went back today with the camera and put the photos on BF and surfbirds ID pages. the majority on both websites agree it is more than likely a caspian x herring gull hybrid.
