A flock of around 50-60 geese went over the centre of Jarra today about 2pm. Flight and behaviour wise did'nt get me thinking Pinkies! And the birds where quite low(no bins).

RBA reports a veery on the isalnd of Muck in the Highlands .

Quick check of the date and no it isn't the 1st April. Next check online to find out what a veery is and discovered it is a member of the thrush family from Southern Canada/Northern USA - well I have never heard of that before!!

If you fancy a twitch there is a ferry to take you to Muck but don't ask me the way..........and here's me thinking that the Highlands are all mountains

Hi, my best day today watching in approx 600 metres.

Don Valley today from Tyne Tunnel to Jarrow Slake.

1 Kingfisher (got the photo) 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 10 Redshank, 4 Pheasants, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Meadow Pippit, 9 Teal, 20 Mallard, 10 Magpie, 6 Goldfinch, 1 Chaffinch, 3 Bullfinch, 1 Little Grebe, 4 Moorhen, 1 Grey Heron and the other usual Herring and Black Headed Gulls.

There was others that I observed but not experienced enough to ID.

All this was observed on a low tide in the morning.

There is 4 or 5 of us that "patrol" this area and we would welcome anyone that would like to come along with us.
