Hi Ian

Just been down the mound on the Leas and the Whinchat is still there although no sign of the warbs. Down in Trow there must be 50-60 House Sparrows roosting in the shrubs many of them juvs by the look of them, most Iv'e seen together in years.

Pier area this evening was crap again for Terns, but a nice mix of waders on the south side of the pier. 3 Knot( all in different plumage stages), 3 Purple sands, 1 Dunlin, 1 Sanderling, 40+ Turnstones( some cracking looking birds and juvs), 30+ Redshanks( juvs inc.) and 25 Oystercatchers over. Still loads of Guillimots just off.

On my way to trow this morning when i got a text from Dougie about a woodchat shrike in the main bowl, cheers Doug It was showing well but only managed a distant photo, sure Steve managed a better one, cracking bird and a first for me. Had a wander over the mound and along the hedge, not much seen here except a couple of whitethroat. Few waders in the second bay back in trow, half dozen oystercatcher, 7 turnstone and first common sandpiper i've seen here this year. Little owl was sitting on the boulders here along with three wheatear. Kestrel sitting on the cliff opp first bay.

I should have introduced myself Doug, but you met me as well (I was standing with Steve and Jan). On route to Fellgate to feed a cat when the text came from Steve (cheers mate). About turn and straight home for the camera! Well worth the diversion, what a fabulous bird!
