After a quick trip down to Trow this morning for the Ring Ouzel, I had time this afternoon to pop down to the Marine Park for the Mandarin. Really dark down there due to the cloud cover and spits of rain so no good for photographs.

First views of Mallard with 9 chicks which look as though they are on a day or so old.

Nice one John hopefully the "little's uns" will not fall victims to the mass of Herring gulls here but I doubt it. Last year we seen a single day or so old duckling swimming around here (not of Mallard origin) with out its mam. Didn't see it again after this.

Had a look in at whitburn this morning to see the ringing, cheers to John and Jason. Good to see the other lads there for a natter. Called in at trow on way home, couple of willow warblers in the main bowl, usual meadow pipits and linnets, single wheatear. Nice to see Sless down there

Just heard Green Woodpecker in Westoe cemetery while walking down Erskine road. On my way out with fiancee so no chance to go check it out. Definitely the 'yaffle' of a green though.
