Nice to see a few familiar faces around Saxon Way about lunchtime today - at one point there must've been 10 people with bins / cameras surrounding one Rowan Tree - wonder what the locals were thinking

Anyway - good photo opportunities although the sky was blue the light was pretty poor as the Rowans were in shade ..

Couple of mine from this morning..

Had an hour down Saxon Way Jarrow today, about 20 Waxwing still present.
Noticed one bird was colour ringed on both legs.
Let me also add that a great day was had at yesterdays Bird Race and the scran laid on at the end of the day was well good
Well Done and a big Thank you to the folk who took the time and effort to organize it.

Cheers

Steve

I am awaiting reply from a Mr Ray Duncan on the Colour Ringed Waxwing so I will let you know when/if he gets back to me, he was

gathering data on the birds up to 2010 so may get a result.

Derek

No probs on last Saturday, think everyone had the same idea, get what shots they could then get home out of the cold wind that was a

blowin.

Steve/All
I received word back from Ray Duncan who tells me the colour ringed waxwing is no NW65432 which was ringed in Westhill Aberdeen on 31st March 2013 as a juvenile male.
He is well chuffed with the resighting as it is only the 6th such record of a returning UK ringed bird for his ringing group (Grampian Ringing Group ) and the BTO,s from over 3000 birds ringed over the years.
I will email you all the other stuff which he sent me along with email address for your future reference just in case any other colour ringed birds show up in coming years.

Cheers

Berb
