Surprised there's not a few more Spanish birds over here blown in by the winds we've been having.

Thanks to Paul for the heads up on the forum regarding the 'unusual' yellow wagtail - i once saw a similar one at Cresswell which the birders were calling a Channel Wagtail - although that one had a more blueish tint to the head - Also a couple of 'normal' yellow wagtail at the same site.

Really pleased to see M&F Wheatears as well - my first sighting of this species this year and a bird i always like to photograph..

Great to catch up with Jason and Stuart for a good old natter - always a pleasure lads

My efforts in very challenging conditions - gale force westerlies

Had another look for the 'odd looking' Yellow Wagtail this afternoon - hoping it would be around in better conditions than yesterday - unfortunately no sight of it - however plenty Meadow Pipits, 3 pairs of Wheatear, Pied Wagtail, Linnet & Willow Warbler were on site giving pretty decent views..

Had an hour or so on the Lea's and bumped into Dougie - always nice to catch up mate

Couple of todays pictures:

Not a lot around Trow and the Leas other than mipits, skylark etc.

Tried my luck around the academy this morning hoping to see the 'Spanish/Channel' wagtail. No sign of it but plenty yellow and pied wagtails, linnet, reed bunting and wheatear. Nice to catch up with some of the lads there.

Cheers Derek - popped back to the academy after the match hoping to see that 'odd' wagtail but think I was asking too much after a good mornings birding and a cracking match!! I'll have to settle for that.

had a walk around Whitburn CP today. Loads of wheatear, linnet, goldfinch, heron x 2. Ring plover, oystercatcher, redshank, eider and skylark. Popped into Marsden Quarry to see a very distant ring ouzel. Record shots attached. Thanks for the lift Phil.

Been to the academy car park 3 days in a row now trying to get a glimpse of the Blue Headed/Channel/Spanish Wagtail with no joy. I presume it's moved on now. Plenty more to see tho and a chance to bump into some of the lads.
