Young fledged Blackbird in the garden today, the only one of four that survived a cat attack on the nest yesterday so i suppose it fledged a tad early.
Whole nesting process for adults and young must have been B-----d freezin and didnt deserve such a sad outcome.

Thanks Derek, you really keep me on my toes with some of the shots you have produced lately. Hopefully we can meet up while I am still home.
Check out the exif data on my shots to find my latest toy. Suffice to say, it takes some getting used to!

LOL the Canon 1DX - very nice & congratulations on the new kit.

For some reason i think you're not telling the whole truth - you said you worked on that oil rig - but your recent purchases suggest you actually own the bloody thing

Like everything Paul - take your time with it mate and learn the nuances - read loads of forum reviews to understand what the best focus settings are for in flight / static shots....

Top quality gear mate - best of luck

Clara Vale wasn't too bad - popped in for a couple of hours after work and had Siskins M&F, 8 Greenfinch, Green Woodpecker fly over, Pair of Kingfishers mating in the Oak tree and a Chiffchaff singing in birch tree - mega crop image of the Kingfishers and the male Siskin..

Keith
Yeah i remember about 10 year ago working in a bleak shipyard in Rotterdam then one April day i noticed a pair building a nest inside an old container on the quayside, watched them right through the breeding cycle and it took the bleakness right out of the place.
Attached one of the fledged younguns from then.

Canny day out today first stop the ringing hut, always good crack with the lads down there, couple of year ticks as well with 4 sand martens and 2 swallows. 4 sandwich terns headed north and a peregrine south. Church lane next for the tawny that had been reported got cracking views straight away. Next stop accad flash 3rd winter LBB gull, 1 dunlin few redshank and a very obliging snipe which posed ridiculously close to the van. Massive thank you to Paul Duncan cheers mate

You are more than welcome Keith, you teach me more in an hour than I can learn from a book in a month. Nice shots of the snipe too :-)

Paul.
