looks like that male is getting much paler Ian breeding plumage kicking in, would be fantastic if it hung around til it had moulted fully

I am still putting seed down for them Keith so they might hang around long enough for that to happen.

Had a walk along the leas tonight with our lass and the bairn at about 4 o'clock and got cracking views of a short eared owl sitting at the edge of the coastal path behind the mound. Passed within a few feet of it without bothering it, then watched it for a while as it hunted over the mound.
Pair of little owl opp the second bay again.
Louise was well pleased getting shortie and little owl in the same night
Red throated diver off frenchmans
Few linnets near mangoes car park

Great views of the shortie on the leas again tonight. Nice to see Dougie and few others along there.
Quite a few skylark flying about and a couple reed bunts. Kestrel hunting over the back of the mound.

Cheers Sless. Shortly after i took the photos a springer spaniel chased the shortie around the leas for about ten minutes whilst its owner filmed it on her phone, twice it got within a few feet of catching it after landing. Only realised it was her dog when she started walking away

That is absolutely unbelievable - i cannot fathom why someone would allow a dog to chase a bird especially an Owl. Highly likely the bird will bu**er off if it feels threatened on its patch ..

With a bit of luck the same dog will get into this habit and have a pop at an Eagle Owl.
