Did a similar wander with the dog myself - ended up down Sandhaven beach beside the pier which was swarming with about 30 Sanderling, a few Turnstones and a single Knot. Watched a Sparrowhawk chasing an exceptionally irate Fieldfare (didn't get him) where the caravan park butts up against the football fields at Westoe Crown.

The barn owl has been sighted again this evening with up to 4 SEO at west pastures. Once the snow thaws it could move on

Started the day in Gateshead after the Red Kites - lots about with the best spot being Rowlands Gill Village..

Headed back to a very blustery Lea's this afternoon - One shorty present ( i nearly stood on him) he took off about 3 feet from me, jumped out my skin . Lots of Skylarks and Meadow Pipits very mobile and vocal. The SEO was not into flying far due to the string winds - he would only fly about 50 yards after being disturbed then land and just shelter from the gale.

Then into Marsden Old Quarry to see the Little Owl - been over a year since i had a look in here, bird present in the same hole

Couple of pictures from today's outing..

Had a nice walk through the Marine Park and along the sea front yesterday. Bit windy but at least most of the snow had cleared.

Didn't see anything much of note - but attached a few pics.
