It's better being a little short sighted than slightly deaf.(for an owl that is.)
Another cracking owl photo.

Good day at the Leas with Dave Johnston. Shorties and Snow Bunts still there, finally managed to see at least one of the Lapland Bunts.

Paul.

had 28 waxwing today at the traffic lights on new road/boker lane near boldon comp. 40-50 redpoll in colliery wood and picked up a willow tit on the way round, 2 canada geese at the flats, no sign of the kumliens gull at the flooded fields near the accademy, which was seen a few days back. i had a quick look over towards the fish quay as there has been both glaucous and iceland gull reported recently, but just herring and GBB gulls. well done with the lapland bunting Paul

The 2 Lapland bunts.- very mobile this morning. Picked them up near Manhaven bay and then around Frenchmans in flight. Seen and heard a little later on the south- western edge of the rough grassed area to the mound.(near the bramble patch). More than likely the same pair of birds ..but who knows?

5 Snow bunts . south end of Frenchmans and 2 in the north end.

At least 1 S.E.owl on show before noon today.

Keith,

Thanks. First time in the 5 months I've been a member here that I have had a chance to put anything in the yearly gallery. I hope to make a much larger contribution in 2013. Thank you for your help during the year.

Paul.

Nice to see Segg's, DCJ, PWDuncan and Mark Fullerton this morning on the Lea's and have a bit of a natter..

Anyway weather was a bit blowy but plenty to photograph in reasonable light for a change - seems that the Lapland Bunt's were too mobile to get a picture, but the cock-eyed SEO and Snow Bunts were more than obliging

Hope everyone has a great 2013 - good luck on the birdy front to everyone in the new year..

Couple of pics from me..

Aye - looks like that pair were much more tolerant than those this year - think we can rely on Dave J getting some shots though, he puts plenty time in so deserves some luck

All the best....

Long day yesterday, but fun trying to pin the laplands down, the two ended up in front of the mound, if you look just behind the shorty you should see one tiny little lapland middle finger!!

All the best ppl.

Nice shots Derek and Dave. A bit better light makes all the difference.
