Over the Leas / mound / main bowl between 10:30 - 11:15am today. Apart from the gulls, Oystercatchers and Redshanks on the grass and the large skein of Pinkies that flew overhead (120+) it was absolutely devoid of anything else. Boldon Flats on the other hand is teeming with birds, getting close enough to see them is something of a challenge now that the road has been properly fenced off though. I was told yesterday that the driver of the Post Office van who got stuck there on Friday has been charged by the police. I can imagine he was also given his cards if the parcels and letters in the back were ruined!
