No luck late morning with the Bittern at the academy for me today(or yesterday). Cetti's warbler giving short bursts of call in the most easterly section of reed bed on todays visit, and a couple of Dabchicks on the eastern pool.Yesterday 2 Reed warblers were present around the south pool area.

well done getting those shots Dougie, mine came out a blurred mess of reeds. i havent heard anybody picking up that the birds ringed, possibly a teeside bird, would be nice to get a net in there and find out where its origionally from. other birds form yesterday a marsh tit on the footpath leading to the pools and a brief view of the bittern when i returned yesterday evening 7.40pm as it flew north-south over the reeds, hundreds of hirundines came in to roost in the reedbed and a bat circling as i left about 8.10pm.

Sorry for the late post, this was Tuesday's effort on the Leas.

6 Wheatears along the coastal cliffs from Trow to Marsden also 3 small flocks of Linnets(probs about 30-40 in total). hardly any Med.pips and no Skylarks on this venture this day.
The hedge only produced 2 Reed bunts and a single Stonechat (nice bird to see here!).

4 Med.gull along the Leas at about 12 today, 3 together just south of the Bamburgh and one in the GNR compond. No sign of the Marsden car park bird on this trip. 2 Common gulls also of note.

Had a walk around Marsden Old Quarry this morning. Little owl showing on south face loads of golfinches, greenfinches, chaffinches and chiff chaffs about. Plenty of magpies, blue and great tits and blackbirds.

Has anyone had a look around Trow this morning? I'd imagine anything that took off from the continent yesterday will be sitting there this morning wondering where they are!

Good mixture of gulls and a pair of Mallard on St Wilfreds school field this morning!
