Kesterel on birdforum mentioned them a few weeks back. He lives behind the Ridgeway garage and has had them over his garden several times. They seem to follow a flightpath from Cleadon Park towards the rough ground on Temple Park. I'm often around that area but I've yet to spot them.

Heron and young moorhen on south pond at Whitburn CP. Noticed on the north pond that the liner is exposed at the edge of the pond. As UV light will damage the liner and reduce its lifespan it might be a good idea to cover the edge of the liner with turf or soil.

Bittern at the Academy ponds this morning, just after I saw Keith. It was confirmed by another person there who said it was visible the previous day also.
