Started at Whitburn with the hope of seeing the Bonaparte's gull, no luck there.
Other birds were yellow & pied wagtail, sanderling, dunlin, ringed plover, curlew, oyster catcher, 2 med, gulls, house martin, swallow, kestrel, turnstone and the usual gulls.
Moved on to Souter Stack,
The stack more or less clear of bird life apart from a few cormorants, fulmar etc and a few guillemots in the water.
South Shields pier next, didn't venture onto the beach, to crowded.
At least 5 adult roseates and 4 juv's amongst the commons and a single sandwich tern, while watching the roseates etc the black tern came in and gave excellent views, also, looks like I photographed another, earlier in the afternoon, without knowing. see image 1.
Other birds were cormorant, eider, guillemot, golden plover.

Excellent day, pity the Bonaparte's didn't show.

Nice one sedgedunum warbler.! Not seen a one here myself.
...........................................................

Two visits today to the pier : mid-day firstly( low tide) and poor really, 2 Rosy adults and one juv. plus a certain Davey J. who mentioned there was far more terns around earlier on.
Then at 5 this evening (high tide) : 6 adult Roseates and 4 Juvs. stunning views again from the pier.

And if anyone needs a reason why to get rid of rubbish properly or help out cleaning up our beaches and LNR's this might help.
Marine park this morning.

Pier at 7 pm. Birds rested up on the south side here:
9 adult Roseates with 5 juvs. Very few Common terns on this visit.
3 Purple sands.
14 Ringed plover
30+ Turnstones
20+ Sanderling
30+ Redshanks
14 Oystercatchers
And over 30 Guillemots hanging around the pier.

One of the juv. Roseates included a blue ringed bird this evening, don't know yet if its the same bird I see here a few days back.? Coquet have only applied this blue type ring to 5 juvs this year ive been told.
