Chris
Took pics at SAFC academy and Moor Lane area of Whitburn.Had another pop down first thing today and saw my first Grasshopper Warbler of this year (juv) skulking around in the grass so that was a nice find.
I usually park outside West Hall and wander around the fields opposite and over by the pond area, its a nice spot even if you see nowt.
Attached a few from this morning.

Steve I was down there this afternoon. I've not got any shots of Roseate nor Arctic so was really pleased that they were giving good views. Turned my camera on to get some shots and...... nothing I'd left my battery at home - must buy a spare to carry around.

Planned trip to Saltholme completely buggered by emergency voyage to IKEA (b******s) so had a quick look at Boldon flats around 7.30 - 8ish: 3 Greenshank, 6 Green Sandpiper, 2 Wood Sandpiper, 2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Golden Plover, 2 Greylag, 1 Pinkfoot, 6 Grey Heron, Little Gull glimpsed briefly.

West Pastures: 50+ Curlew, Many Kestrel (must be paradise for them hunting round there), 10+ Grey Partridge, 5 Mistle Thrush, Yellowhammer, Chiffchaff,Grey Heron, 1 Large rat, 2 Brown Hare.

Unfortunately no owls or Marsh Harrier but will try again - as I will with Saltholme tomorrow....
Bloody IKEA...

Walk along Shields pier first thing to try and find one of Steves Rosies,no luck but plenty of what i reckon were Common Tern and a few other birds.
Large raptor flew north at about 0810 being chased by gull,to far off to call but i would say Marsh Harrier going by cropped pic.
Colour ringed Turnstone also seen.
