Ray, looks like an immature kittiwake in photo 2 although I will probably be wrong and bow to the experts

Brian,
You are right about that image, the image that I was questioning, is the last image in the second row.

Ray.

Aye Ray thats a Common gull( probs a non breeder?), the white flash/patch within the black wing tip is one of the ID features. Kit. adult wing tips look like they have been dipped in black paint to me.

little egret at boldon flats this evening, i missed it by a few minutes. It flew towards cleadon village just before i got there landing in some trees near whitburn road. we went over and had a look around but coulnt find it, the strong wind probably disturbing it as it looked for somewhere to roost. i'll have a look at the flats tomorow morning before work, fingers crossed.

Little Egret was still there between 11:30am and 4:10pm today. Favouring the far west side of the flats in the long grass in front of the water, but easily spooked by traffic, people etc and kept heading off to the very back. A couple of record shots:

................................................

Juv. Wheatear on Sandhaven rocks this evening,( first one Ive seen this year). Sandhaven packed still at 7-ish. with folk. A few Common tern bairns dodged the folk on here to land wanting fed off their parents, but soon took off.

LBB gull( near adult) in Marine park, not a common sight here.
