Thanks Derek,
They’re really coming on a treat mate – even the smallest of the brood is doing ok. Due to staggered incubation I’ve got them down as c18 -22 days old. I think they’ll fledge in about ten day’s time – I’ll be sorry to see them leave the box but I’m sure they’ll hang around while Mam & Dad help them sharpen their hunting skills – will post more pics if I can.
Cheers,
Dougie.

Hi Keith, Ive seen both these birds before on Sandhaven. The first one is the bird I mentioned on the ringing thread on this forum a few weeks back. The second, Ive got a shot of the bird dated the 3.12.11. Having problems at the moment trying to find details of this bird Ive been sent.(looks like all the attachments in old emails have gone!!).

Jeroen is the man to contact regards Sanderling sightings...very fast response!

Hi Folks,
Just a quick update as promised – what a difference a week makes!
Kestrel family are still doing very well, all six chicks appear healthy and are gaining weight, both parents constantly back and forth with food. One or two of the older chicks are often seen sitting near the entrance of the box, which makes them visible to the regular passing LBB & Herring Gull patrols - Mam & Dad aware though and aggressively deal with anything that gets too close, great to watch.

Cheers,
Dougie.

They look great Dougie - are they all Females? Don't see any with grey heads, apart from downy 'chick' feathers...

Hi Derek, thanks
It’s difficult to say what they are at the moment as all juvenile birds (male & female) look like this.
It’s actually not until the third year that male birds develop a ‘full’ adult plumage, although the ‘grey’ tail is visible by their second autumn.
Just to confuse matters further, they can also breed at one year old (while still in sub adult plumage).
Confusing but true!
Hope this helps mate
Cheers,
Dougie.
