I might be helping out on the subject Brian as I have Starlingings nest building in a bird box in the garden .

Walked on the Leas this morning and immediately heard my first Gropper of the year possibly two although they were very faint reeling in the long grass opposite the mound.

Also a couple of Sand Martin checking out nesting holes at Marsden Bay.

3 Wheater in Trow

Despite the abysmal failure that was the westoe cem feeding station this year, we have managed to attract a good count of roosting Starlings in addition to the existing great count of House Sparrows (and that's not including the flock of lesser spotted tw@ts who landed there on Monday with dogs, cans and bottles and made a right sh1t tip of the place)

Hi
Got this as an email and thought it interesting and never thought I would see an Eagle doing the Breast Stroke !!!!

This footage was taken at MallardLakes subdivision in Baton Rouge .
Someone had shot a nutria, (a large semi-aquatic beaver-like rodent)
and it was floating dead in the water. You won't believe what this
eagle did to bring that nutria in.

Strange one for me in the garden yesterday evening when a pair of Mallard showed up.

Also a pair of LTTs nest building along with a pair Goldfinch, two birds which rarely visit the garden.

And a Song Thrush is another regular the past week.

Pair of Mistle Thrush on the ST College field this pm, probably the rain has softened the ground enough for them to reach the worms.
