Dull day out finished nicely as two Great Crested Grebes displayed with their courtship dance what an absolute pleasure to watch.Only bad distant shots available

Stayed In house today...In my garden 2 pair of Greenfinch,1 pair of Chaffinch,Coal Tit's.Blue Tit's,Great Tit's,Dunnock,Robin,lot's of Blackbird's,Then my wife asked me what type of bird she seen sitting on our fence..Male Sparrowhawk..didn't get my camera quick enough.

Male Wheatear near gun rock in Trow this afternoon also a pair of Kestrels. Male Kes with a vole displaying to female (makes a change from seeing him hunting worms etc!). And a Mr Sulli on the prowl .....
The 5 Pinkies where still on Boldon flats about dinner time.

Walked along Don this morning,Woodcock,Kestrel In Don Valley,Long Tailed Tit's building their nest,lot's of Wren & Robin,Pair of Mistle Thrush,5 Redwing In Jarrow Cem....Also here's some photo's I took this morning.It's the first time I've seen one of them bright yellow duck's In the don.

6.30 this evening about 14 Pinkies on the flats.Light was going and only had the car bins.

lesser black back numbers are picking up there was 10 on lamposts/flying around newcastle road near vic youngs and taybarns today.

Pair of little owl sitting in elder tree in main bowl of trow this morning. Also kestrel near the apple tree.
Four goldcrest along leas hedge.
Two possible scandanavian rock pipits near pier first gate at dinner time. Both had very grey heads, and one looked to have a slight pinkish wash to its chest.

The pair of Canadas where on Marine park this morning. A Tree pipit flew over the Ringing hut calling this afternoon.
Davy G. had 4 Wheatears around the pier area late afternoon yesterday.

Nice pics Ian - is that the Trowl with the poorly foot?? Still seems to be doing OK. Probably gonna have a look in Old Marsden Quarry tomorrow for the Little Owls ...

Anyone know if they are still regularly seen there??
