Over the last couple of days Toads have been out in force around this site. Yesterday 247 where collected and today over 15o. These critters have a barrier in the form of a stone wall to contend with in places around this reserve, before reaching thier spawning pond. So any help giving the Toads a lift here to the old pond in the reserve would be welcomed. The main area they are being found in is here- NZ413633.
A local lad has collected the Toads here for a few years now and sends all the data on. Its looking like a new record will be set this year. So if anyone has a walk around here take a bag and help the Toads reach thier spawning pond.
A quick visit into the LNR to drop the toads off in the reeded pond I am sure will not be of harm within the next couple of weeks. Common sense applies...its a Nature Reserve and not normally a place you can access.
Any Toad counts pass them on please. Alan the "Toad man" here is over the moon regards help so far.
