I know this raises its head from time to time but I think it is best to keep up to date with prices. Of those who are filling birdfeeders how much do you pay for that expensive commodity - sunflower hearts?

My supplier has just gone up and they are now £18.20 for 12.75kg (roughly £1.43/kg).

Thanks

Brian

Where is that at Brian?

I'm currently paying £20 for 13kg.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone I decided to have a trip round Shields today and realised why I moved to the balmy warm south it was blowing a hoolie on the seafront and blooming freezing. Most of the birds were obviously keeping their heads down out of the wind. There was nothing at the ringing mound other than two partridges I nearly stood on. at WCP there was one Wheater about a dozen Goldfinches 6 Linnets one Reed Bunting and two mallard on the pond. highlight was two Sandwich Terns off the coast flying north also 8 eider on the sea. These were seen while I was sheltering in front of the Obs trying to get a breather from the wind. Quick trip to the pier gave half a dozen Turnstone and two Purple Sandpipers. It was too cold wet and windy to hang around. I'm now going to pour myself a large wine and try to forget my age.

Cheers

Paul

Have about 5 of those large wines - that should help you forget your age - along with most other things for a few hours ..

I heard today that the Newcastle fans have decided to change their famous anthem in light of last weeks derby day clash..

The old Blaydon Races song was a bit past it - so apparently its being spruced up to reflect more recent times - it goes like this...

ohhhhh me lads, ya shud ah seen us gannin',
Passin the foaks alang the road just as they wor stannin';
Allll the lads an' lasses there, all wi' smiling faces,
gannin alang the Scotswood Road, to punch some horses faces.......

Hi Sid
Been out birding but must have just missed each other. Should be out around South Tyneside this weekend.
Went to Saltholme/Greenabella yesterday - loads of avocets, godwits, redshank and a pair of BN Grebes. Canny day.

Good trip back into the old county today. Great to meet up with Sid and wander round Whitburn CP with him. Nothing fantastic seen mainly linnets but lovely seen in their current plumage. Sid spotted a Snipe at the back of the pond (god knows how). Heron hanging around the pond/Reeds. Couple of Blackcaps at Blue Lane and one the way home I checked back and caught up with a couple of lesser whitethroats which I had managed to miss on my way in.
