Hi Michael

I can access the gallery from my PC alright so I am not sure what the problem is and wonder if anyone else is having the same problem, perhaps someone can let me know before I delve deeper into it.

John,

I see that you have busy on the website already with information on membership, etc.

Well done mate!!

I am going to have a go at an advertising poster for the walks and will circulate it for comment. Does anyone know if the walks would be suitable for anyone who is disabled?

Brian

Hi Brian

I thought I better change a bit of the website ASAP and have more work to do on it soon. Regarding the walks I wouldn't have thought it was suitable for wheelchair access at all and as for other disabled persons it would depend on the disability and fitness of the person, presuming the walks last for 3-4 hrs and could be upto 4 mile.

Hi All

Not long got back from the ST Wildlife walk from St. Paul's Jarrow to Brockley Whins along the river Don guided by Claire and Matt. Smashing day the weather was nice and so was the company. On the way we saw LTT in the grounds of St. Pauls and Oyster Catcher, Teal, Moorhen and Redshank on the Slakes. The road down to the Slakes from St Pauls has a row of Cherry Trees which I am told have really nice cherries on them later in the year if you cab beat the birds to them.
Further along the Don Matt pointed out good places to see Bee and other Orchids which I hope to go back to next month. Lots of frog spawn in the ponds around the area and Claire pointed out the Heron activity around the ponds where Herons take out the guts of frogs and the spawn before eating the remains (didn't know that).
Found coltsfoot and an Elder Tree that Matt thinks might be 100 years old which is old for Elder trees and is classed a "Veteran" (didn't know that either).
Lots of Otter spraint along the Don all the way to Brockley Whins and another trip back there is penciled in.

Bird wise though not a lot about and probably a little early in the season (probably everything reported from tomorrow) knowing my luck.

I think there are more walks planned by the Council in July which I am certainly going to try to attend.

The route taken is at the link above in case anyone wants to do the route.

Really sorry I could not make the walk and I was looking forward to it!... but needs must and all that in the present climate work wise.
But sounded like a very interesting afternoon by your report John especially with experts like Clare and Matt in attendence..

The link John ....doesn't show the route only a site.?

Nice one Brian sure they will be gone by the time I manage to get there!(anyone visiting the shop, grab a few and I will pay for)...Looked at one in B&Q the other day it was £6 and I was tempted for the Westoe cem. collection.

Hi Steve
I think I may have sorted the problem with the link if you could try it from your end as it works from this end. I was using it as a test for the CCG guided walks next month.
