Hi Sid,

Ringlet are a very nice butterfly to shoot wings up, the spots have pale beige rings around them and the wing colour is a little lighter - have a look next time see if you can get one..

Spotted this leech crawling through a puddle on Moor Lane, Boldon Flats yesterday. It was about 5" long. Made me feel for the cows that were standing in the water feeding!

Couple of bees from near Souter, yesterday. Not really much about, insect wise.

Had a walk through Marsden Old Quarry this morning and up towards Shields golf course. It was good to see butterflies on the wing again and the following were noted - male and female common blue, ringlet, meadow brown, small heath and little skipper.

Also nice to see the summer flowers at last.

Tilesheds NR and surrounding fields were absolutely teeming with butterflies yesterday. No camera with me as dogs in tow, but good numbers of Speckled Wood, Ringlet, Meadow Brown, Small Tortoiseshell and unidentified whites seen. Got home to find a Magpie moth in the kitchen, used to see loads of these as a kid, but this is the first one I've seen in ages.

Back around the Tilesheds NR and surrounding area today with dogs in tow, fortunately also had my camera for my first Five-spot Burnett of the year.
